Changelog & Release Notes

What changed for the people using the panel, newest first. The last five releases also appear inside Premiere, under Settings → About → What's new.

Version 1.29.0 14 October 2026

📚 The panel now documents itself. About used to show a logo, contact details and a version. It now carries the two things you actually need while working: how to use the plugin, and what changed.

Feature

Documentation in the panel — six topics, one open at a time so it stays readable in a 360px panel: what Copilot Notes does, getting started, where your notes are saved, the five tabs, keyboard shortcuts, and privacy.

Feature

What's new — the last five releases with version, title, date and a one-line summary, and a Show all toggle for the full twelve.

Note

The in-panel text is deliberately separate from the repository changelog. That one is written for developers; this page and the About tab are written for the people editing.

Version 1.28.0 14 October 2026

Beta mode — the AI tab no longer asks for anything. The AI tab offered a provider grid, an API key field and a model select, all of which stored a value that nothing read. For a private beta that is worse than useless: it invites you to hunt for an API key and paste it into a field that does nothing.

Change

A plain notice now says it: AI features are not part of this beta. The provider cards, API key field, model select and custom-provider fields are disabled, with a cursor and reduced opacity so they do not look selectable.

Note

Anything you had already stored on that tab is untouched, so nothing is lost when the AI features land.

Version 1.27.0 14 October 2026

Every open defect from the deep audit is closed.

Fix

The Keys tab works. It had captured shortcuts into a map nothing read, so every rebound key was silently ignored.

Fix

Scopes and imports. "Current scene only" always exported scene 1, "Import as a new script" overwrote the script you had open, and a filtered-block scope that could not be honoured was removed rather than advertised.

Fix

Dialog behaviour. The modal now keeps focus inside itself while open, restores focus on close, and no longer dismisses when a drag-select ends outside it. The command palette is 440px wide as intended, not 300px.

Change

Notify on @mentions was removed — there is no notification system to honour it, and a switch for a feature that does not exist is exactly the pattern this release set out to delete.

Version 1.26.0 14 October 2026

Nine of the twelve high defects, and eleven medium ones, fixed.

Fix

The tag editor on a note card works. Tags you typed were discarded on save because the note's own tags were overwritten on every update.

Fix

Collaborators can be added and removed again, and export uses the real note fields — previously every exported CSV and Markdown contained no note text at all.

Fix

Notes formats can be exported when the script has no blocks, duplicate-sequence detection fires again, and the safety settings for backups and defaults are honoured instead of being ignored.

Version 1.25.0 14 October 2026

The deep audit — 61 defects found, and the six worst fixed. Six independent reviewers went through every screen and core module.

Fix

Exports were silently empty — the writers read fields that do not exist on a note, so no note text reached the file and nothing threw. The status column was blank for every in-progress note too.

Fix

Eight block operations were unreachable — split at cursor, merge with next, add tag, detach as note, convert to marker, re-anchor to playhead, add revision note and link selected clip could not be opened by mouse or keyboard.

Fix

Removing a collaborator did nothing, and adding one lost the name.

Version 1.24.1 14 October 2026

A logo that reads on the dark panel. The navy card was nearly invisible on Premiere's dark grey panel — the mark read as a smudge, and the panel tab icon disappeared entirely.

Fix

The logo now has light, dark and colour variants that share one geometry, so the shape cannot drift between them. The panel uses the light variant; the tab icon is rasterised from it, keeping the gold play triangle.

Version 1.24.0 14 October 2026

The real brand mark, in the panel. The header and the About tab had been using a generic sparkle glyph on a gradient tile.

Feature

The mark — a note card with a folded corner and a gold play triangle — is now used in the panel header and the About hero, and as the panel tab icon.

Change

The gradient tiles behind it became plain containers: the logo carries its own colour, so a gradient behind it was double branding.

Version 1.23.2 14 October 2026

Fixed — the About tab had no styling. The stylesheet was complete, but the markup used class names that did not exist, so the tab rendered with browser defaults.

Fix

About is now laid out as a hero, a contact card (website, email, phone as tappable rows), a build card with version, build date and plugin ID, and a line stating that the project stays local and no AI call is made.

Change

The duplicate branding footer under every Settings tab was removed.

Version 1.23.0 14 October 2026

Every checkbox is a switch. Three bare tick boxes were left in the export dialog, the import options and settings — including one whose CSS had been lost, so every switch in the panel had become a tick box.

Feature

A Custom AI provider card joined the provider grid: provider name, base URL, model and API key, stored under ai.custom. It carries a warning, because a custom endpoint is called directly from the panel and is governed by that provider's terms.

Fix

The accent colour was referenced in five places and defined nowhere, so the active tab underline was invisible, the switch did not turn blue and there was no focus ring. It is now a token.

Fix

Three command-palette entries had no icon — a repeat of an earlier missing-icon bug. All three now exist.

Version 1.22.0 14 October 2026

The Settings tabs had no breathing room, and the AI tab was rebuilt to match the mockup.

Fix

A fixed height in an earlier stylesheet beat the padding, so the tabs sat in a 22px strip. The height is released and the tabs have proper space.

Change

The AI tab is now a 2×2 provider grid — letter tile, name, an active/off pill and the model underneath — plus an API key row with its own state, and three usage figures instead of one inline value.

Note

The key row reads "Not verified" rather than the mockup's green tick. Nothing can verify a key, because no AI call is implemented — a tick that always shows success would be a false claim in the one place you are asked to hand over a credential.

Version 1.21.0 14 October 2026

Settings rebuilt on the design system — it had not been touched since the first build, and was the last place the panel looked like a form.

Change

Five raw native selects became the same Radix select every other view uses; the bare checkbox became a real switch; rows became sectioned cards with hairline dividers and hover states, and hard-coded pixel sizes became design tokens.

Fix

Two more instances of a long-standing status bug: the default status offered a value that is not a status, and export sorting pushed every in-progress note to the bottom.

Version 1.20.0 14 October 2026

Export your notes, and choose how the script is laid out. The export dialog had offered script formats only.

Feature

Notes · Markdown, Notes · CSV and Script + Notes, alongside a Timeline CSV and a JSON backup — one dialog for the whole panel, reachable from both Notes and Script.

Feature

A Layout selector: single column, scene-grouped, and an A/V two-column view where visual and audio stay aligned.

Fix

Every document export failed with "Navigation disallowed" — the save path used a browser download, which UXP's webview refuses. Exports now go through the host, so the save sheet appears and a cancelled save is reported as cancelled rather than as success.

Version 1.19.x 14 October 2026

Undo and redo, everywhere.

Feature

Visible Undo · Redo buttons in the header, disabled when there is nothing to undo — it had been reachable only by keyboard and the command palette, with no way to see whether anything was available.

Feature

Full history for the script, which had none, on a 40-deep in-session stack. Notes and script keep separate stacks, so Undo addresses whichever changed most recently and never undoes something you cannot see.

Version 1.18.0 14 October 2026

The Timeline tab — the script mapped onto the sequence.

Feature

Colour-coded segments, a timecode ruler, note pips and a live playhead, so you can see at a glance what is shot and what is not.

Version 1.0.0 13 October 2026

🎉 The first build. Notes, markers and timecode linking, in a panel.

Feature

Capture a note against the playhead, click a timecode to jump to it, and turn a note into a Premiere marker — or import markers back in as notes.

Feature

Notes scoped to the active sequence, status and priority filters, search by keyword, tag or timecode, and a collaborator list for who is saying what.

Feature

Atomic local storage with automatic backups, crash recovery, conflict detection, and JSON export/import for moving a note set between machines.
